June is here. The San Antonio Spurs tip off against the New York Knicks tomorrow in Game 1 of the NBA Finals — and Giant Noise clients across San Antonio are ready. Inside this issue: watch party roundups, World Cup activations, and a look at the PR behind one of Dallas' most talked-about restaurant openings. Let's get into it.

Meet the Team

We're a people-first agency, so every issue, we hand the mic to someone on our team. This month, we're highlighting Senior Designer, Lindsay Womack, who recently won the San Antonio PRSSA El Bronce Excellence Award for her press kit design for Twang Brands LLC — recognized as both thorough and visually compelling

Portrait of Senior Designer Lindsay Womack

Tell us about your role at Giant Noise and what your typical day looks like. As a Senior Graphic Designer on the creative team, I get to work with an incredible range of clients across tourism, retail, hospitality, and more. Each day looks different but usually involves creating digital campaign graphics, print work, and brainstorming for upcoming launches.

Is there a recent project or moment you're most proud of? I love the way the Giant Noise rebrand turned out. Our team worked so hard on it, and all of the thought that went into each decision really shows.

What's something you've gotten better at this year, professionally or otherwise? I've been learning animation in After Effects, which has been such a rewarding challenge — it brings a whole new dimension to my creative work.

What's your favorite traditional design rule to break? I hate to admit it, but I will add a stroke to a font if the weight I'm going for doesn't exist in the typeface.

What are you into outside of work right now? The new Hayley Williams album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. It has already gone multi-platinum in my household.

Industry Notes

"The World's Sport" is coming to Texas this summer, with Houston and Dallas hosting several FIFA World Cup matches. Visit Fort Worth kicked things off with a Draw Party Experience at Billy Bob's, complete with a six-foot-tall World Cup trophy. The FIFA Fan Festival in Houston's East Downtown features Esphera, a 360-degree immersive projection dome inspired by the official match ball; Houston Hall, with activations from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and Space Center Houston; and a "Road to the Cup" youth tournament.

Giant Noise clients are celebrating futbol season in style. In Houston, Barbacana's Chef Christian Hernandez is serving World Cup-inspired menus, and Goode Co.'s Armadillo Palace is partnering with Lone Star on cultural activations throughout June and July. In Austin, Suerte is hosting a Mexico v. South Africa viewing party on July 11, and Foxtail is offering $8 Mi Campo margaritas and $2 off bites during matches.

The Dossier

The Spurs are in the NBA Finals for the first time in over two decades. Giant Noise clients are getting in on the excitement with watch parties, Spurs-inspired menus, and specials running all series long. Here's your guide.

Where to Watch

The Rock at La Cantera (San Antonio) is an official Spurs watch party destination, featuring a 40-foot screen, expanded seating, DJs, exclusive giveaways, and raffles. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., tip-off at 7:30 p.m. Entry is first come, first served.

Otto's Ice House (San Antonio) keeps it simple: cold drinks, good food, and a great place to catch the game.

The Mezcaleria at Pullman Market (San Antonio) is hosting Spurs watch parties with all-day happy hour every time the Spurs play — 25% off drinks and $2 off menu items. Fans can also grab artisanal wood-fired pizza from Fife and Farro; order online for pickup or delivery.

The All Good (Cedar Park) is showing every Spurs game with happy hour prices throughout, including $2 off signature cocktails and drafts, $5 wells, and BOGO smashburgers at JABS.

Themed Drinks and Specials

The Dispatch (San Antonio) is serving two Spurs-inspired drinks: the Le Chesnay (espresso, chocolate ganache, marshmallow, cold foam) and the Spur (grapefruit, local honey, lime, rosemary).

Omni La Mansión del Rio and Mokara Hotel and Spa (San Antonio) are pouring the Area 210 cocktail throughout the NBA Finals — Corrido blanco tequila, green chartreuse, Midori, cucumber syrup, and more, served with a black lava salt rim.

Mexico Ceaty (San Antonio) is offering a Spurs-themed margarita flight at Dos Cantinas inside the newly opened 25,000-square-foot River Walk culinary destination. The flight features five margaritas named after fan favorites Wemby, Fox, Castle, Harper, and Vassell — with 16 TVs throughout to catch every play.

Post-Game Celebration

La Panaderia (San Antonio) is giving away a free mini concha to the first 100 guests per location after each Spurs win during the Finals.

Also Worth Knowing

Roxie's (Buda) is a newly opened neighborhood spot ideal for catching games — comfort food (Chicken Pot Pie, Meatloaf, Chicken Fried Pork Tenderloin, smashburgers), $5 daily cocktails, and an expanded happy hour with $3 off starters, $6 frozen drinks, $6 wells, and $4 draft beer.

June 8: Flatwater's Dam That Cancer presented by TYLER'S, Austin. In its 17th year, 230 participants will stand-up paddleboard 21 miles across Lake Austin, raising over $1.5 million to fund more than 14,000 mental health therapy sessions for those impacted by cancer. The public is invited to a free Post-Paddle Party at LCRA's Redbud Center (3601 Lake Austin Blvd.) from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring a DJ, silent auction, food and drink, local vendors, and more.

The Work

Each issue, we spotlight a piece of our work worth a deeper look — the strategy behind it, how it came together, and what made it land. This month: Olōyō.

Client: Olōyō, the first brick-and-mortar restaurant from cult-favorite modern Mexican brand Molino Olōyō.

Why we did it: When James Beard semifinalist Chef Olivia López and partner Jonathan Percival approached us about Olōyō, we saw an opportunity to translate the excitement and loyal following behind Molino Olōyō's acclaimed pop-ups into buzz for their first permanent concept. The intimate, masa-driven restaurant marked a major next step for the brand — and an exciting addition to Dallas' culinary scene.

What we did: Giant Noise led strategic media relations surrounding the opening, positioning Olōyō as one of the most anticipated restaurant debuts in Dallas. We secured an exclusive first look with D Magazine while pitching the opening wide to local and national outlets, landing placements in major "anticipated openings" roundups ahead of launch.

Results: Olōyō quickly became one of the most talked-about restaurant openings in Dallas, earning coverage in Bon Appétit, Robb Report The Dallas Morning News, Dallas Observer, CultureMap, and more. Strong media momentum translated directly into demand, with reservations fully booked for the restaurant's first three weeks post-opening.

What We're Loving

The Cannes Lions Awards take place June 22-26. We'll be watching closely for this year's winners, but for now we're still swooning over The Ritz-Carlton's Gold Lion-winning "Late Check Out: A Ritz-Carlton Story" campaign from 2025, produced by Madrid-based Little Spain.

Substack we love: Giant Noise CEO Elaine Garza recently shared ICYMI with Lia Haberman, a weekly newsletter dedicated to creator marketing news. A recent must-read post explores why tapping into nostalgia — through sound effects and personality-driven content — could be key to growing an audience.

As always, a lot is happening with all of our clients, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks for reading The Amp. We'll be back in July with more.
